2014 Egg Drop Survey
First off we want to thank everyone that participated in the 2014 Fayetteville Egg Drop. This event ballooned from just under 2,000 people each of the first two years to well over 4,000 in 2014. With that came some challenges that we've already started planning for in 2015. No matter how well we think that we can see what needs improved, we want to get the opinions of those who participated. Feel free to comment on parking, registration (on-site or online), the drop, other activities or anything else. While most people enjoyed the day, we know that some people had issues that caused frustration. Before you take the survey, here a few things that will be addressed in 2015.
Temporary Fencing Around Drop Fields:
We have never had an issue with kids being separated from parents in previous years. This year was frustrating for us and scary for some of our parents & kids. If we can't host it in 2015 without feeling like that problem is eliminated, we won't host it. We are looking at various ways to address this issue with temporary fencing. When parents stay off the field, it is easy to reconnect children with parents. When adults begin entering the field and other parents lose sight of their child, they naturally go onto the field to find them. We will find a way to keep this from happening. Your suggestions will be appreciated as safety in 2015 must be our #1 concern.
Better On-Site Signage and Public Announcement System:
Again, in the past it has been sufficient to hand out the Event Map which contains the schedule for each of the 4 drops. This year it seemed that too many people were unaware of the schedule, guidelines, or layout of the egg drop. Help suggest ways to better communicate. Having fields with temporary fencing & signage is part of the solution but we'd appreciate more feedback.
More Activities Before the Egg Drop:
If not for the sponsors we had in 2014, we wouldn't have been able to offer the event for free. However we weren't able to get any entertainment businesses to donate their activities for kids to enjoy. While I understand them not being able to afford that, it limited what we could do. Our church alone spends more on the event than all of the sponsors combined and we just weren't able to spend more on inflatables, etc... If you can suggest ways to entice more businesses / organizations to provide activities for the kids leading up to the drop without increasing our costs, that would be appreciated.
We'd like to know what went well, what can be improved, and what you'd like to see going forward. We know that most everyone had a great time but we don't want anyone to leave unhappy. Even if everyone did leave happy (which is impossible) we still want to know how we can improve. Thank you in advance for taking a few moments to take the survey.
